database technology recommendation
I'd like to create searchable databases via the web, some small (relatively
static 75-record membership directory) and some large (28,000 indexed articles
of a newspaper, adding 20 per week), and would like a recommendation on which
technology I should learn to do this. I use Dreamweaver to create websites,
and I know some HTML. I know something about relational databases and
desigining fields, and I could use MS Access. I've heard of MySQL, PHP, CGI,
but don't know which I one I should pursue learning and then use. I have never
done programming before, but I could learn some.

Re: database technology recommendation
PHP and mySQL are probably the best combination - pretty easy, very
versatile and pwerful (especially compared to Microsoft technologies), speed
optimised and available free of charge, from www.php.net and www.mysql.com
respectively. They're also very widely available as standard on most web
hosting packages.
