Basically datawarehouses are a central repository for all your data in
de-normalised (not always) format.
For example you might have a the following
Sales table (Sales key, Customer Key)
Sales details(Sales key, Product key)
Product table (Product Key)
Payments table (Payment KEy, Sales key,Customer key)
Customer Table(Customer key)
In the warehouse you might have a table which has all the details from the
above in one table instead of a query
You might also have monthly sales summary tables.
Basically anything that makes data retreival quicker and easier, always
remembering the datawarehouse is a readonly item.
There are other features as well. like datawarehouses are typically on
seperate machine (to reduce server load)
I hope this helps
