    this would depend on whats the datatype of the column DateLastAmended. If it is
    varchar, this would work. If it is datetime(on SQL Server) then try this:

    <cfquery name="update" datasource="DPSGuide">
    INSERT INTO Aged_Care_Facility_Details (DateLastAmended)
    VALUES (#CreateODBCDateTIme(now())#)
    </cfquery>

    In that case your previous query should work, only remove the single quotes and
    replace the other single quotes with double quotes

    <cfquery name="update" datasource="DPSGuide">
    INSERT INTO Aged_Care_Facility_Details (DateLastAmended)
    VALUES (#DateFormat(now(), "mm/dd/yyyy")#)
    </cfquery>

    Hi,

    I solve this by setting the default value of the database column to
    getdate() (works with SQL Server)

    Best regards
