DateFormat and cfcontent problem
I wonder why the following will not output to msword:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
<cfcontent type="application/msword" />
<html><head><title>hi</title></head>
<body>
<cfoutput>#DateFormat(Now(),"long")#</cfoutput>
</body>
</html>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------
It seems that DateFormat and cfcontent cannot be with each other for some
reason....
Wonder how i can solve this problem
Thanks

What does the output look like? Try a different format.

Re: DateFormat and cfcontent problem
I don't think you can generate a word document just by using a cfcontent. You
need to use a word generator, a seperate application, and then you can use the
cfcontent tag and display the MS Word content genereated by this application.
You can dynamically generate excel spread sheets this way but not word
documents.
You can IText to create rtf documents on the fly.

Re: DateFormat and cfcontent problem
Thank you guys
The output simply looks like today's date in my IE with the following format:
May 9,2005
where it is suppost to display that in MSWord
if i do this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
<cfcontent type="application/msword" />
<html><head><title>hi</title></head>
<body>
coldFusion, hahahaha
</body>
</html>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
and run the page, I will see a window asking me if i want to save a ".doc"
file or open the ".doc" file, if i open, the text "coldFusion, hahahaha" will
display in MSWord like magic.....

Re: DateFormat and cfcontent problem
That is cool! I am sorry for wrong info. I tried to generate a word document from a cfm page, but was unsuccessful doing that. It was a couple of years ago.
May be I was doing something wrong.
