DB2 Connect (V8) install problems (as usual) - IBM DB2

Hello, DB2 Connect V8 is quite an impressive upgrade. However, at the moment I have two problems with the installation (w/o fixpacks). (1) installed custom and excluded command and control center (Steuerzentrale). Control center is installed nevertheless, although it does not appear in the generated response file (s. below). This is a defect? (2) linking tables within MS Access I get -440 accessing (non-existent?) routines necessary for metadata. From another newsgroup: " Apply PTF UQ72083 at the z/OS DB2 UDB V7 system, and you get a whole series of stored procedures." Why can't I find this information for this problem ...

Default DB2 Connect (V8) install problems (as usual)

    Hello,

DB2 Connect V8 is quite an impressive upgrade.
However, at the moment I have two problems with the installation (w/o
    fixpacks).

    (1) installed custom and excluded command and control center
(Steuerzentrale). Control center is installed nevertheless, although
it does not appear in the generated response file (s. below).
    This is a defect?

    (2) linking tables within MS Access I get -440 accessing
    (non-existent?) routines necessary for metadata.
    From another newsgroup:
" Apply PTF UQ72083 at the z/OS DB2 UDB V7 system, and you get a
    whole series of stored procedures."

Why can't I find this information for this problem in searching your
support site (once I know the APAR I can, of course, look it up)?

With every fixpack or new version there always seems to be something
which doesn't work (or works differently and is not doented). Our
support costs are too high for this product.

    Regards, Ch.Keller

Default Re: DB2 Connect (V8) install problems (as usual)

I see you've attempted to install both DE and EN, presumably (from your
    path), you're using W2K / XP in German (although I can't tell if it's
Germany or Switzerland, and there is a difference).

Unfortunately, there are serious problems when mixing German and English
vesions of DB2, both in V7 and in V8. What we did (Switzerland) was install
Windows in English, set the regional settings country to English and install
DB2 in English, after that we could create the database with the relevant
Swiss German code page. Everything else resulted in almost total failure to
    ontain proper functionality.

We have opened PMRs against both V7 and V8, the only response we ever got
was to do what I've outline above. I've also had a response (from the DB2
lab) on this forum that mixing German and English works, but no further
response once I spelled out the exact scenario (including the Switzerland
    aspect).
