    Default db2look - help needed

    I have the need to generate the ddls for a set of db2 tables.

    I want to use db2look, but don't know where to run it from (command window,
    CLP, logged on to the database) it just doesn't seem to want to work from
    anywhere.

    Is there something I should install, or where should I run it from ?

    from right click/generate ddl I get "The script could not be saved. Return
    Code: "16"." DBa2159

    from command centre I get
    DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a
    valid Command Line Processor command. During SQL processing it returned:
    SQL0104N An unexpected token "-" was found following "db2look ". Expected
    tokens may include: "JOIN". SQLSTATE=42601

    from CLP I get the same

    I'm using UDB7.2 on Winnt4 and the tables are on UDB5 on OS2

    any pointers in the right direction would be most appreciated

    db2look is not a command. It's a utility (i.e.an executable program).
    You invoke it either from a shell or via command environment you use '!':
    db2 => !db2look .....
    or
    c:>db2look ....

    Cheers

    as I don't appear to have an executable of that name - any suggestions as to
    where I locate it ?

    thanks for your response

    Well, I searched my whole machine, and it wasn't there, so I guess I will
    have to check through the install disks ( i really hate that - last time I
    tried, the install disks wouldn't run because I had applied a patch & was
    therefore a higher version - so I had to uninstall first)

    Many thanks guys for you help

    There's nothing in "sqllib\java" that would require it to be in your
    PATH. Your CLASSPATH, yes, but not your PATH. Perhaps you were thinking of
    "sqllib\java\jdk\bin"... that'll need to be in your PATH if you are not
    using an external JDK.

    If you use Stored Procedures or UDFs you *might* need to add
    "sqllib\function", but I'm not sure about that.

    On my system I also have "sqllib\help" in my PATH, but I'm not sure what
    that buys me... it's just there. ;-)
