    Default Re: deadlock

Your manager's request is a good example for what a deadlock is.
Reminds me of a challenge that a good friend once gave me (revised a bit):
My first name, Itzik, is to honor my grandmother (Betzhok, I believe) who
had no children ... figure that one out...
    I'd follow Tom's suggestion...

    Default deadlock

    Hi,
First of all thanks a lot for these responses.

I don't much interact with frontend, and they wants it to
    be implemented through backend.

I have seen two messages in master..sysmessages

    message id : 1204
The SQL Server cannot obtain a LOCK resource at this
time. Rerun your statement when there are fewer active
users or ask the system administrator to check the SQL
    Server lock and memory configuration.

    1205
    Transaction (Process ID %d) was deadlocked on {%Z}
resources with another process and has been chosen as the
    deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.

Is there any way to trap these messages in the tran, may
    be that will help.
