Dear Acrobat help,
I have been trying to print a large format (42" wide X 24" high)
Dear Acrobat help,
I have been trying to print a large format (42" wide X 24" high) .pdf file (a drafted engineering sheet) sent to me by a consultant -- I was finally able to plot it via Adobe Photoshop, but was not able to get Acrobat to recognize the custom page size. I made a Windows printer using the HP500 plotter with a default setting of 42" wide X 24" tall -- the Acrobat print routine seemed to recognize the plotter and custom size at the top part of the print menu, but wouldn't show it in the lower 'Paper Size' area of the print menu. FYI, I did try to read the FAQ, but didn't find anything specific to this problem so far. If you have any advice, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks,
Dan Young

Could you clrarify that - have you added a custom page size to the Acrobat Distiller as per the iunstructions in the FAQ?

He doesn't need to do anything to Distiller, he isn't even using Distiller. He's trying to print from Acrobat to an actual, physical printer.
Have you tried printing it, anyway? I often print out large drawings and sometimes the little preview window will say "8.5x11" even thought I'm printing to 42x30. It always prints correctly, though.

I have had the same problem with no luck. That is why I am on this site looking for answers.

Did you try printing or are you not getting past the fact that the preview says letter-sized?

Re: Dear Acrobat help,

Yes, I have tried printing out of Acrobat directly to the HP500, ignoring the little preview box which says 8 1/2" X 11". First the 'spooling' window comes up, which is normal, then a second later a message which says simply 'The document cannot be printed.' I'll use Photoshop for now -- need 20 sheets ready for a meeting later this morning.
