debugger issue - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Ok, this may be my stupidity, but I'm having trouble with using the debugger in query yzer to step through any procedure. It will not stop at break points and will not allow me to add or view locals. In the past, I've just used print statements at various points in the code but I would like to be able to step through it instead. Default debugger issue

Ok, this may be my stupidity, but I'm having trouble with using the debugger
in query yzer to step through any procedure. It will not stop at break
points and will not allow me to add or view locals. In the past, I've just
used print statements at various points in the code but I would like to be
able to step through it instead.

I'm running the debugger by selecting debug from the context/shortcut menu
that comes up when you right click the name of a procedure in the object
    browser.

I'm also running QA 2000 against a SQL 7 database.

Any thoughts / ideas I might try to get the debugger working as desired?

    thanks

    John

    John,

Apart from the BooksOnLine topic 'troubleshooting SQL Server, Transact-SQL
debugger' , see if this helps:

    Thanks Dinesh

I made sure that the DCOM configuration on the NT box holding the instance
of SQL Server 7 I'm working with had the DCOM configuration set up; it did
not. However, I'm not much further than I was earlier in trying to get the
    debugger to work.

I did get a new error message, which is described in full by someone else
with the same error message on the following discussion page:

    http://dbforums.com/t803868.html

I tried uninstalling everything and then reinstalling SQL 2000 from the MSDN
CDs. I still receive the same error. Its like QA is waiting for me to do
something, and in fact, there is a message displayed on the status bar of
the debug window "waiting for user input," so I'm not sure what's going on
with it. I you do, please clue me in.

    thanks

    John

    An update

    - uninstalling and reinstalling sql 2000 makes no difference in this error
    message
    - tried to debug with administrative rights and without (the BOL aren't
exactly clear whether you need db administrative rights or its just
something you 'can' have--any clarification is appreciated)

In any case, any and all suggestions on how I might resolve this issue are
    welcome. Many thanks in advance.

    John

On a tangent note, should I be aware of any special steps that need to be
taken on the server other than those described in the BOL for enabling
debugging of stored procedures? Anything undoented?

This problem seems impossible to resolve...

    thanks
