Default Image Editor - Macromedia Fireworks

How do you prevent fireworks, being the default image editor for images I have on my hard drive!? I want to change this back to Internet Explorer...

    Left click on a .jpg file (or gif, etc) to highlight it. Hold down SHIFT,
    right click on the file, and select 'Open With'. Choose IE from the list
    and check on the 'Always use this program to open this type of file', then
    click OK. On W89 anyway.

    No wonder nothing works, I am on W89! Duhhh...Windows 98 maybe?

    You will find information on this at Macromedia's Fireworks support
    (link under help). It's not difficult to alter associations for file types
    manually in win, but I believe MM has a utility available that will revert
    the file associations altered by fw installation to their default. -
