Default Defining objects in coordinates - Does Illustrator do it?

I want to design some graphics in which I can precisely define the shapes and the coordinates, including the centroid. I don't want to spend money and invest some hours into it and find out that I really have a scribbler program. Also, I want to define the coordinates, not have some coordinates applied after the fact to a free hand scribble.

At work I have Visio and you can define a rectangle and have its dimensions defined, but I think I can do better than a corporate flow chart program, or at least I hope to.

I want to design some flags initially, but have added to my computer some type of graphics capability.

I am attracted to Adobe primarily because the promise of PDF output.

You're worried Illustrator will be incapable of designing a flag?!

I'm sure you'll find it quite adequate.

I want to design some graphics in which I can precisely define the shapes
    and the coordinates

That's like saying "I want a word processor that allows spaces between the words". Of course it does.

not have some coordinates applied after the fact to a free hand scribble.

Are you trying to be insulting?!

Timothy, how can he begin to image what Illy can do until he knows her?

Ed, if you want to see some precision drawing, follow the link in the original post, and the rest of the thread:

    Illy can only help you.
