Delay Error after publishing, file remains locked but.LCK is gone
Immediately after publishing a page or cancelling a draft with Contribute 4 or
CS3, I'm getting the file locked error message, "You can't edit this page now
because you are already editing it on another computer. Click here to make this
page editable." Other users are experiencing the same problem.
After 1-2 minutes, a refresh of the page removes the error message and editing
is available. PLEASE NOTE: there are no .LCK files on the server after
publishing. I've checked through Windows Explorer and the .LCK files are
deleting properly after publishing. It's almost as if Contribute doesn't
immediately recognize the files are gone, but checking a minute later is ok.
I am the site adminstrator and have Dreamweaver CS3 installed. Everyone is
using FTP to access the site. This is a company intranet running on IIS.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Any ideas on how to resolve? It is very
annoying and time consuming. Wondering if it is a server configuration issue,
a contribute configuration issue or some network permissions issue.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Alex

Re: Delay Error after publishing, file remains lockedbut .LCK is gone
Discovered the cause of the problem. Seems that using FTP is the issue --
there was some latency in the FTP server where it didn't recognize the LCK file
as being deleted for a few moments. Noticed the same problem directly logged in
to the FTP server when I copied a file to a different directory, deleted the
original, then tried to move the file back to the same directory. Got an
"overwrite this file" message, even though it was gone.
No problems at all when using Contribute with Local Network as the
communication option.
