No it's not. The only way to delete files on the server is to have direct access to it through a FTP program. The one I use is FTP Commander it's free and basic.

Yes, you can delete .pdf files from Contribute. If the user role has permission
to delete files. Put the url in the address bar and click go. When the page
opens you will get the edit warning (ignore). Then go to Files-> Actions->
Delete Page. This will delete the .pdf file from the server. Hope this helps
