Delete linked MS Office and PDF files
Hi,
It's not particularly obvious how a Contribute user can delete a linked MS
Office or PDF file from the server computer itself. Actually, the goal is for
the user to be able to overwrite the file on the server with a file from their
local system using Contribute's "link" tools.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ted

Re: Delete linked MS Office and PDF files
My understanding is that a long as the user has been granted permissions to
delete files they are able to edit (defined in 'roles' set up in the site
administration area) then all they *should* need to do is navigate using the
"Choose" button to the file in question, then from the go to File > Actions >
Delete file.
IN a quick test I uploaded a file ("setup.ini") to my site's root folder. I
then tried to re-publish the same file to the same location, and I was
presented with a "What would you like to do" dialog, asking me if I wanted to
"Replace setup.ini with your version" or "Publish your version using a similar
filename'. So, your users should be able to us this "Publish File from My
Computer" option (in the File menu) and overwrite existing files.
I'm not sure what Contribute's "link" tools are, but this method of "Publish
File from My Computer" works for me in Contribute 3.11
