Delete Swatch is grayed off

Default Delete Swatch is grayed off

I am trying to delete a Pantone swatch in ID2 and replace it with another, but Delete Swatch is grayed off in the Swatches palette.

The strange thing is that this action was possible in an earlier version of the file, but not in the current one.

The book is not very long and I can make the substitutions manually, but I wonder why this is happening. I have come across the same thing occasionally in Illustrator as well.

The color is not present in any imported graphic, so ID should be allowing a quick changeover.

    Can anyone help, please?

Did the color come in with an imported graphic or did you add it
yourself? In either case, there is a workaround posted somewhere, but I
don't remember off hand. It might be in the Mac forum.

FWIW, I think it's more trouble than it's worth since the color won't
create a new plate if it's not used.

There's a bug that prevents that from working correctly.

The Pantone color came in with text and graphics cut and pasted from the previous edition ID2 file into a new ID2 layout. All colors were then converted to CMYK.

But I am not merely wanting to delete the color. I had wanted to zap the Pantone and replace it with the CMYK swatch. As I said, it has been easy to manually change the colors, but it should be one action.

I agree that it is a bug but it is not global since I did it with another version of the file.

However, a colleague has just said that she can't remove a couple of unused colors in another job, so it obviously happens a lot. I gave her the same advice as you: don't worry because they won't print.

It has been sorted out...in ID CS. At least I've yet to see it.

As for 2.0, the last update was 2.0.2 and there won't be any more.

By sorting out I meant IDCS and above. I thought that I have seen some CS users still complaining about this issue, but I hope you are right!

We are trialling the CS family and will install it soon on our network.
