Desk Top Author, and ad success?

I have been looking over some software from [url]http://desktopauthor.com/[/url] ,
specifically the desk top communicator. The file type allows multimedia to be
installed/linked to, and viewed and also to with the desktop communicator
software update every copy of the file in circulation.
Now I know people are using flash to display ads but my question is, how
complex can the ad set up be with flash? For example I need something set up
were the system rotates through a series of ads in a mysql database, and when
no ads are available displays for example adsense ads. Any insight into the
possibility of the above with flash would be great, as I would like to know it
is capable of what I need before picking it up.

It depends on where the ad is being served. If you are in control of the site,
you could certainly do what you are describing. You could also do it if the ad
is served elsewhere but you may need to look into using Pointroll, Eyeblaster,
Dart Motif, etc.
