Default DHTML Dropdown Menus

Hi,
Is the DHTML drop down menu creation function more powerful under FW
MX2004 than under FW MX? Or is it just the same? If so, could you
please recommend an DW extension or a small program to create such menus
on websites? Thank you
Cheers

I believe that they are pretty much the same.

Check www.projectseven.com

They sell several commercial DHTML and CSS menu products.

If you prefer to "roll your own", they also offer tutorials and free
extensions that facilitate that path too.

Cheers,
Sam

Thanks for replying. I visited this site but it seems rather difficult
to understand how this is working (is it an extension? a program?...).
Also it seems to me that have pre-designed models of menus whereas I
would like tools to create my own.
Cheers

What did you find hard to understand? Just curious...

Magic Menu I, Magic Menu II, Tree Magic Menu are just three of their
commericial products for generating different types of menus. They allow a
lot in the way of customization as far as how the menus look and where they
are positioned. They user interface for generating the menus are Dreamweaver
extensions.

For creating your own menus, you might want to look at the following
tutorials:

CSS Menus: The Uberlink CSS Rollover Menu
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/css_menus/list_01/index.htm

PVII SwapClass Treeview Menus
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/swapclass/index.htm

Simple VII Popup Menus
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/auto_hide/index.htm

Positioned Dropdown Menus
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/menuing/mcloser/index.htm

There is a link at the top of each of the tutorials that displays an example
of the finished product, so you can determine if that is the menu style you
want and continue with the tutorial or not. Any of the tutorials that use
extension, make use of the extensions that Project Seven distributes for
free. These requirements are also discussed at the top of each tutorial.

Hope that help, otherwise, please post again.

Cheers,
Sam

maflu:

They are basically the same, and both are badly broken. In my opinion, you
are making a mistake to choose either.

"powerful' is, therefore, not the right word in this context.

Murray,

What would you suggest then? I need to make a drop down menu that is
cross-browser (as much as possible) and I do not have the time to code
it by hand. Thank you

Cheers
