    Default Diagonal Guide

Is it possible to make a diagonal guide in InDesign CS? Will it be possible in the future? It is such a simple thing, which is commonly used (at least by me), however it seems not to exist.

As of now, I usually just use .25pt lines as guides for diagonals, however these are sometimes cumbersome, and can't be snapped to.

    Adobe: I want diagonal guides.

I don't think it is a simple thing. It is available in illustration software but hasn't made it into InDesign.

I'm not sure it would get on to my top 100 feature requests.

Would make mine. Probably not my top 10 or 20 but it's something I use often enough. I draw a line and put it on it's own layer and lock it down.

Whenever I've needed a diagonal arrangement of stuff, I've used either a text wrap or the Align palette's distribute feature. But this has not been very often, perhaps four times in the last four years.

I probably use it that often in a month. At least one or two projects a month where I want text to also function as art such as an arrow or wavy sheet of paper. Mostly print ads.

In case it is unclear to Cornelius and other viewers of this topic, my purpose is declaring my feelings about a proposed feature in these kinds of quantitative ways is to try have exactly the kind of conversation that Richard and I have just had.

Every feature that anyone ever asks for usually has some merit. The question is: how much merit? And the only way to answer that is to have some discussion about how often you do (or would) use such a feature.

Just because my workflows and projects don't call for a feature doesn't mean the feature shouldn't be added; it just means that it wouldn't make much difference to me.

Clearly Richard and Cornelius have a stronger need than I.

Perhaps I should move this topic to the Feature Request forum: <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.ef9af17/>

Would that be OK with you, Cornelius?
