Default Dialup FTP UNIX to UNIX

I can transfer a file through UUCP and it works fine, but I'm trying to
setup a dialup connection using pppattach and use ftp to transfer files.
    Can this be done? How?

I'm running SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 on my local machine.

Read all the documentation you can find for ppp on your system. If you
are using a modem you will need a dialing script on one end, and to
set up the other end to accept ppp dial-in connections. Once you
establish a ppp connection it is just another network interface.

SCO used to supply Morningstar ppp, a wonderful product long gone.
( anyone with sources out there ?)
