If you own a legal version of the app, why not spend the $169 or whatever it is to make it current. Are you in 9 because that what the app runs in or because that's the only machine you have?

wow
It came in the original box, with the
acivation codes still in their sticky-peel place,
with manual, and registration instructions.
I've bought Adobe GoLive, Live Motion, Photoshop. I'm not
gonna feel badly cos I finally got a 'discount' on InD.
Even so, adobe STILL got full price when SOMEone bought this
[now out of date] version originally.
I have the G4 os9.
I also have a dell with win xp.
did I explain properly that this software is for windows.
[yes, I am posting there also]
I gather that I export the claris docs as RTF or word,
burn to cd, and then open that cd in xp, expand as Wordpad,
and then place into InD ?

You're running OS9 on windows? What runs on what platform? You can run X on a G4.

No, she bought InDesign for her Windows PC computer; and her Claris is for Mac OS 9
At least from what I am understanding.
Ruby, you should oly need to insert your CD and then from the File/Place menu select your text that it is on the CD, it should come without any problems.

Careful...This is InDesign 1.5 which if what's left of memory is correct
created a link to placed text. First thing to do after that is embed the
text to avoid any missing link messages.

You could do that, but there's no need to burn the CD or open the files with Wordpad. Just move the files to your Windows machine over your network, then place the files directly. As soon as you get them into a format InDesign can read, and give them the appropriate file extension, you're good to go.
Thanks,

Re: -------- Did I buy the right software ? ------
I am betting there is no network. Quite easy to setup and would save alot of time and CD's.

Two machines in the same room? All you need is a crossover cable.
