Different JVM Heap Size on Multiple Server Instances? - Coldfusion Server Administration

I can't find where it is possible to set individual JVM Heap sizes for different instances in a Multiple Server install. According to the Macromedia White Paper "Multiple Server Instances using ColdFusion MX 7 Enterprise Edition" dated May 2005 under Optimized Applications, it states that "Different applications have different needs....Settings such as simultaneous requests...JVM heap size...can be set as needed for each individual server instance." I haven't found this to be the case. I've changed the {JRunHome}/bin/jrun.config java.args=-Xmx1024M -Xms1024m (http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_18744#heap) but that is applied to all instances. Default Different JVM Heap Size on Multiple Server Instances?

I can't find where it is possible to set individual JVM Heap sizes for

but that is applied to all instances. I've also tried doing it with the JRun
Management Console and that specifically says that any changes to the settings
are applied to ALL instances.

How does one set different heap sizes for different instances?

We got around this by having different jrun.config files.
jrun.config_cfusion1, jrun.config_cfusion2, etc, etc. Then, with the jrunsvc
tool, create the service so that it'll pull that config file. You'll need to
customize all of the path's for each config file, however.

Thanks. I appreciate the quick response. I was hoping somebody would come
through because I only have one app that needs 1.5GB and my pocketbook was
cringing at the thought of all that wasted RAM on other sites that didn't need
it.
