    Default Different versions of Reader

I need to create a fillable document in Acrobat 7. The problem is if the end user has a lower version of Acrobat...say 5 or 6...they get an error message. Is there any way to solve this problem? In other words is there a way to have the document work in all versions of Reader? Thanks in advance for your help.

The one that you get..."This document was created in a newer version of Acrobat, and some features may not display properly."

There is probably no way around it except to upgrade to 7.0 Reader...but I'm just asking if there possibly is a work around. One problem is that the comb fields are used in the fillable doc and they won't work in 5.0 anyway. Any suggestions besides upgrade? Thanks

That isn't an error message; it's a warning. It doesn't stop the file
    from opening.

However, if you want to avoid the warning, which is a good idea, you
can use Advanced > PDF Optimizer to save your PDF in older formats. Be
sure to do this as the LAST thing as any more edits will bring it back
    to PDF 1.6.

I've run into cases where the PDF simply can not be viewed period in anything except Reader or Acrobat 7.

I've had people especially on the PC side say anytime they try to view a PDF I send formted as version 1.6 (Acrobat7) the Raeder or Acrobat program they have simply refuses to read it.

I can even tell a difference myself. If I save a an Acrobat 7 type; in GetInfo where you should see a thumbnail version of the document all you see is the Tiltted A icon (symbol for Acrobat) and that file is guaranteed not to be viewable to anyone else sent to. I can use the same file and use the PDFOptimizer on it to just change its type to Acrobat 5 (v.1.4) and I can view the thumnail in Get Info and anyone on the internet I send to can view the PDF. So even though I am using A7 I am getting no benifit out of it because I am having to save in A5 format which doesn't use any of the new features in A7.
