Difficulty Aligning Slices
Hi, I'm trying to use Illustrator CS to optimize graphics for a web project. I would usually use a program like Fireworks for that, as it was designed and works well as a web graphics solution. But the designer is using Illustrator, and it's more trouble to try to bring stuff into Fireworks nicely from Illustrator than it's worth, so I'm trying Illustrator's method.
I'm finding it especially hard to get my slices setup the way I want them. I drew guides out where I wanted the slices to be. I had Snap to Point on, and I started drawing all of my slices. When I zoomed in, the slices were not lined up on the guides at all.
So I thought it would be easy to just resize them, but it's seems to be REALLY difficult to resize slices. They seem to only want to snap to large value increments, instead of to my guides.
For instance, I have a row going across, and it seems all slices ended up a bit above my guide. But when I try to drag my slice edge down (with slice selection tool), it won't snap to my guides, no matter whether I have Snap to Point on, Smart Guides, etc.
This is VERY frustrating. The slices just won't move or resize sometimes, or they go too far. Am I expecting too much from Illustrator?
Also, does Illustrator HAVE to slice up the entire page, whether I want it to or not? Having all of those extra slices makes it hard to see what's going on when all I want to work on is the top navigation area.
Thanks!

Re: Difficulty Aligning Slices
Not familiar with slices enough to offer any real fix.
Only thing I can think of is try to increase the snapping tolerance in your prefs and be zoomed in when initially creating the slices. If they're fighting you when resizing, try to avoid that operation altogether.

Re: Difficulty Aligning Slices
Illustrator always seems to snap the center point or the cursor to your guides, not the edges of your object. Could that be what's happening?
