Difficulty with updating linked doents - Macromedia Contribute General Discussion

Forgive my lack of technical lingo as I try to describe a problem. I have one main index page, and about 7 supporting index pages. The 7 pages are set up in folders under the main page. One of the .asp pages is for common forms used by all 7 areas. So I keep all the forms in one folder and link from various places throughout the 7 areas. Forgive my lack of technical lingo as I try to describe a problem. I have one
main index page, and about 7 supporting index pages. The 7 pages are set up in
folders under the main page. One of the .asp pages is for common forms used by
all 7 areas. So I keep all the forms in one folder and link from various
places throughout the 7 areas. However, when a link needs to be updated, I
discovered that Contribute has made multiple copies of the form and put a copy
in each of the folders. How can I set it up so that there is only one folder
for forms (for instance) so I have only one place to keep updates?

    Hi Mary,

When you update the links are you trying to change the name of the linked
file, then copies of the same files would be put on to the server. If you want
certain files should be uploaded to a specific location then you can use File
    Placement feature in Contribute

    Thanks

When I update links I keep the name exactly the same. Even our "experts" in
the office are puzzled as to why Contribute recopies the doent from the
original location. I don't know about the file placement feature in
Contribute, so I will check that out. Thank you.
