A digital certificate is just another file, and ftp doesn't care what's
inside the file, it just transfers it.

This is what they want me to have :

The FTP gateway for the Internet requires the trading partner/customer to
install a secure FTP client that supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). At a
basic level, SSL provides confidentiality, integrity, and server
authentication facilities. For authentication, SSL supports asymmetric
cryptography, which requires the use of public key certificates.

Is that the same thing you are writing about?

    Thanks

You asked about "handling digital certificates", but now you've asked a
    slightly different question.

I think you want sftp, which is part of the OpenSSH suite. It's shipped
with OSR 5.0.7 (and just yesterday updated); or you can grab my
    5.0.5/5.0.6 binaries from ftp.jpr.com.

I don't beleive this is exactally what he was asking. In any case, sftp
interacts with 'sshd', and is not 'ftp' by definition.

You can link SSL certificates with some FTP daemons, thus requring digital
certificates, but I've never seen anyone bother, most people just do what
JPR is suggesting (and I also suggest it, it's alot easier).
