Default Director file that when I try and open it states Protected !?!

I have an old Director file (Director 6.0) that I wanted to open to edit. When I double-click on it to open it it brings up a message that states the file is protected.

How do I unprotect the file?

Or is it just a case that the file has an error on it?

I tried what you suggested but you are unable to see the file.

Also instead of the icon being a normal director icon on my desktop it is dark grey on the areas where it would be white.
