Disabling/Deleting Updates option from Help menu - Acrobat Reader 6 - Adobe Acrobat Windows

We are running Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 on our Citrix/Win2000 servers. We would like to disable/delete the option under Help that says Update. This relates to the updater plug-in. We are willing to make registry changes to hide/delete this option. Any ideas how we can do this?...

Open a new Notepad doent and type the following into it :

    app.hideMenuItem("Updates")

Save it as any name you like, but with the extension .js and then place it in the following folder :

    Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\Javascripts

That will hide the menu item upon a new startup of the application, but you may still want to go into Edit > Preferences > Updates and deactivate it automatically searching for updates, as it will still do this even though the menu item isn't there.

Alternatively, also remove the updater.api from the folder :

    Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Acrobat\plug_ins

    Is that sufficient?

Yes Thingfish, this is exactly what we needed. I have made these changes to our servers and your suggestions work fine. Thanks for the post!
