I have had that happen when the previous printer selected was non-postscript (you can not print separations on a non-PS printer). When you select a new printer(postscript or not), Illustrator does not fully load all the options for the new printer. The work-around for me has been to print a simple composite print on the new printer and then go back to the print dialog...... Voila all the options are now there.

    Thanks, Tom, it worked!
Dee: I can't get to the Separations Setup to "click on Open PPD" when it's dimmed.

Any idea about the persistent file names? I just saved a .ps file and the name was replaced with one from yesterday, after a complete shutdown & reboot.

And, is there anyway for Illustrator to remember the print setup? I can save a print setup for just about every other window in the print dialog but I hate having to choose "Binary" from "ASCII".

Glad I could help. As for the persistant file names.... Not sure but Illustrator 10 is known for it's ....hmmmm.... odd personality traits. The only suggestion I have is to trash all preferance files and try it again.

I know I've read about the file name problem here before. Did you do a search on this forum? It wasn't to long ago either ( I don't have a good memory span!)
