"Disappearing" Text when placing PSD into InDesign (WIN XP/CS2) - Adobe Indesign Windows

Problem is erratic but when placing a PSD into ID (just an image with text) sometimes the image is visible but the text isn't - when I go - "Graphics/Edit Original" the PSD is clearly showing text and the ID doent doesn't. The same settings are used for all the images/files within the InDesign doent & in Photoshop. What is causing the text to disappear & how can I get it to work every time? Does the image have text wrap applied?

I have seen strange behavior like this. It had to do with the way
clipping paths were interacting with each other. Check the paths palette
    in Photoshop for anything odd.

BTW, if you're saving from Photoshop with text, you'd be far better off
saving as PDP (Photoshop PDF) format. This will retain the text instead
    of rasterizing it.

    You Beaut!!
Thanks for that both suggestions are good. I used the paths as I've got nearly 1000 images that I'd have to change format to PDF.
