    Default Disappearing type

I have a PDF file with 450+ pages that I've asembled from several files, but a group of the pages have invisible type. The pages have captions that disappear. The text is there and I can select it and copy it, but it won't show on the page.

I've replaced the pages, I've deleted and inserted them several times. The text shows after inserting or replacing the pages, but when I save the file or reopen it, the text is invisible.

The original pages are fine, but in this document, they vanish.

Any ideas on getting the text to show?
