Discretionary Hyphen?

    Doug:

You are right: Illustrator does not appear to let an "Ante-word Dischy Hyphen" prevent a word from hyphenating when Hyphenation is toggled on.

"Ante-word Dischy Hyphens" work in inDesign but not in Illustrator.

[Actually, I don't do that much text-setting in Illustrator because I prefer to use InDesign for that.]

Ann, you MUST be wrong. Or just hasty. Surely you're jumping to a conclusion.
Your response sounds suspiciously like, "Hey there's a another bug in AI CS, I
just found it and I can't believe they let this one go by!" I think it might be
wiser for us to wait to find out how it works.

Maybe if we wait, we'll also find out how to make a soft return work with tabbed
    paragraphs.

    But thanks for trying :)

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but I think that this is another thing that is better done by using the Tables feature in InDesign.

Any advanced type-setting needs InDesign -- I only use Illustrator's text tools for special text-treatments or for very simple short pieces of text. For anything beyond that, I use inDesign.
