Disk with view amnesia - Mac Applications & Software

Hello, One of my disks is insisting on opening in an unorganized view in an unwanted place on my screen. When I adjust the size, position and view and immediatly close it it remembers the new view, but as soon as I have been logged out it reverts back to that ugly unorganized mess. I tried replacing the finder.plist with a backup but this doesn't solve it. Other disks don't have this behavior. Which other file controls these settings? How do I fix this? Thanks, Steven -- nl...

    Default Disk with view amnesia

    Hello,
One of my disks is insisting on opening in an unorganized view in an
unwanted place on my screen. When I adjust the size, position and view

been logged out it reverts back to that ugly unorganized mess. I tried
replacing the finder.plist with a backup but this doesn't solve it.
Other disks don't have this behavior. Which other file controls these
settings? How do I fix this? Thanks,

No, the disk is not locked. It is my startup disk.

I don't know if there is a relation but I noticed this behavior after I
turned the AppleShowAllFiles option in the com.apple.finder.plist off
again after having it temporarily switched on.

You didn't say which OS you use, but in OS X, all versions,
I have seen the same behavior. I think its a bug in the finder.
Hopefully, this will be corrected in Panther.

This is in Mac OS X 10.2.6. It has worked fine up to yesterday.

I would recommend repairing permissions. It can't hurt!

Done it yesterday. Actually, I'm not really sure I have seen this
behavior prior to repairing the permissions...:-/
