Default Display results from a database in a table side by side

While working on a page, I needed to display titles for certain series
organized in a table. But I need these organized side by side. In other words,
records retrived from a database are displayed on a table with 2 x 2 setting (2
rows, 2 columns). The columns are the the ones giving me the issue, since what
    I want is this:

    -----------------------
    | Title#1 | Title#2 |
    ------------------------
    | Title#3 | Title#4 |
    ------------------------

and so on depending on how many records are allowed to repeat or all records
    if desired.

Anyone got any ideas how can this be done, I hope the 'little diagram' helped
    explain what I meant.
