    Default Display Spot Color Palettes

I am new to InDesign. How do I display spot colour palettes? It seems rather onerous to have to create a CMYK version of a spot colour every time you want to use one. I've tried the "Load Swatches" option from the Swatches palette but there are no libraries to load... Thank you.

I think she's asking if there's a way to export and save a swatch palette from an InDesign doc to load into other InDesign files. I don't believe you can do that in InDesign.

I've gotten around this by creating an InDesign template file for each of my reoccuring projects with all my relevant swatches, paragraph styles and other settings prebuilt, then I just populate it with new data.

    You can create swatch libraries.

You can also create simpled filled frames with desired swatch colors, group and place into a library. Then drag out and delete. Once dragged out, it adds the swatches to the swatch palette.

But, I believe Robert's interpretation of the question is correct. (IMO)

    John,

Good idea. After rereading it, I agree Robert was on the right track. I'll try to only offer ideas when I'm awake next time.

How the heck do you export swatch libraries (or is the answer the trick you explained)? I feel like a newbie not knowing that one.
