Default Distiller 5.0.5 is Classic App?

I bought Acrobat 5.0 almost 4 years ago and it works fine with OS X - Except that I now for the first time need to use distiller for a client's job and it runs in classic. Instructions from my client's printer say to open my document which is in Quark and choose print and choose Acrobat distiller for the printer... but it's not there... distiller is running in classic and quark is running in Tiger.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Why doesn't Distiller run in OS X?
    Help!
    Thanks!

Distiller 5 never was converted to an OS X native application. It is
    Classic only.

Distiller 5 "accommodated" OSX but ran better under OS9 native. I've kept an old, networked G3 minitower just to run Adobe's Design Suite with Acrobat 5.05 and other apps of that vintage. Acrobat 6 is definitely the first true OSX version.

Yes Distiller part of e5.0.5 only remained OS9/Classic application. While the rest was made OSX compatible. At the time we were given the "line" that they could not figure out how to make distiller Universal. (OS9/OSX). Then within 4 months or less out came Acro 6. Had they truely put some effort into making Distiller Universal (OSX compatible) Many of including myself would still be using e5.0.5 of the Acrobat package. Because even now That was the most perfect, ideal package, that came out, even for today. It had all the bells and whistles of Acrobat 7 Pro, except for the 3-D handling and, didn't have all the Print Press stuff which 80% of most people didn't need. But Adobe had an add on feature, for those that needed it. Then They came out with the scheme to sell a version , that basically did what OSX was already capable of, Then the pro version which was equivilent to what Acrobat 5 was with the Print press stuff thrown in.

In 8 on the Mac side, Adobe has decided That pro only is the way to go because the Mac's own OS can do what Standard could do.

What most people want in Acrobat, is the ability to create, design, alter, minipulate, and Fillout Forms. And you can only do all that in Pro. You can fill out and save forms, but not the rest in standard.
