Default Distiller doesn't see ps in folder

After creating a pdf from a ps file in a particular folder, if I save another ps in that same folder and return to make another pdf file, Distiller doesn't see it. I have to quit distiller in order to go back to that same folder to see the ps. This is a new thing that came about, I have been able to do this successfully in the past. Distiller Version 6.0.2, MAC OSX 10.3.9.

    Any ideas?

Check for directory damage using Disk Warrior or if you don't have that
use disk utility. If all is well, try fixing permissions. If that
doesn' t work, what happens if you log in as a different user?

Make sure there are not any meta characters in the filename (!@£$%^&*)
    etc. ..

Another thing - are you making this hot-folder local or over a network
    share?
