    Default Distiller invalidfont /courier error

I have been searching the net, Adobe support knowledgebase and these forums for an solution to the following problem(s). I have seen a number of references to the errors, but all the suggestions listed have failed to solve the problem(s).

I am (have been) using Acrobat "4.0 0318 16:59" running on Windows 2000. I am an Administrator (and my user account has Administrator rights). The problems seem to have occured after I recently installed PhotoShop Elements 2.0, which overwrote the .pdf file association. I fixed this by uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat. However, after I did this I started getting (i) "Unable to find or create the font ..." errors when viewing some .pdf files, (ii) Acrobat would not uninstall because of an "Internal error, unable to load or call external DLL", and (iii) Distiller generates the following error in the .log.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: findfont ]%%

    Stack:
    /Font
    /Courier
    /courier

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

    Default Distiller invalidfont /courier error

Let's look at the Courier problem. First, check out Distiller's
Resource\Font folder. How many files are in there?

Default Re: Distiller invalidfont /courier error

Thank you for your reply to my post. Following is an update.

I worked on the problems some more, and discovered that PhotoShop Elements created a \fonts directory in \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\... which contains the same courier fonts (and no others) as in the \Acrobat 4.0\Resource\Font directory. When I added this other folder to the Font Locations in Distiller it fixed the PDF creation problem. The root case is likely that Acrobat is reading courier font registry information, which was changed by PhotoShop Elements.

I am still getting the other 2 errors ("Unable to find or create font, 'Times-Roman'" (and some other standard fonts) when viewing some PDFs in Acrobat and the "Internal error" when trying to unistall Acrobat).

I look forward to any assistance you can provide on those problems. Thank you.
