    Default Distiller killer

I'm using Distiller 6 to create PDF from .ps files.
It fails with the message "Can't process job because PDFLib failed to initialize."

Running OSX 10.2.6. Standard job options in Distiller.
Norton Anti Virus is turned off.

    Any ideas please?????

    Default Re: Distiller killer

PDFLib is having problems. The quick fix is to turn anything PDFLib related off.

Launch Distiller. In the "Default Settings:" pop-up, select the setting you would like to use to Distill with.
Go to Settings > Edit Adobe PDF Settings...
In the General tab make sure that "Optimize for Fast Web View" and "Embed Thumbnails" is unchecked. Set "Object-Level Compression:" to Off.
Click OK and save the new setting with a unique name.
    Go to Settings > Security...
Make sure you are not applying Security.

    Distiller will work now.

The one thing that I've seen take down the PDFLib in Distiller is the "Adobefnt.lst" files. Find any of those that you have on your system and trash them. I would also go to Settings > Font Locations... and hit the "Remove button for all of those fonts. Distiller will rebuild its default Font list. You can add any other Font locations you want.

Problems like the one I have mentioned above can happen when Font utilities are used to move fonts around, or turn them on and off. Distiller thinks fonts are in one place on your system and this may not be the case. For some reason this seems to freak out the PDFLib.

    Hope this helps.
