Re: Distiller will not run while Extensis Fusion is active
Found this in the extensis support site when I did a search for distiller quits Hope this helps.
Suitcase Fusion unexpectedly quits when upgrading from a previous version of Suitcase (25877).
When launching Suitcase Fusion for the first time, the application may unexpectedly quit if you choose to import and upgrade your previous Suitcase database and if there are permanently activated fonts in the previous version database.
Solution 1: Upgrade to Suitcase Fusion 12.0.1:
Quit any open applications including Suitcase or Suitcase Fusion.
Trash the Suitcase Fusion Vault bundle:
/Users//Library/Application Support/Extensis/Suitcase/Suitcase Font Database.suitcasevault
Download and install Suitcase Fusion 12.0.1. To download any product update, you must have an Extensis user account and your product must be registered. If you have an active user account, you can download your update now from your products section on your My Account page. If you do not have a user account, you can sign-up online now. If you have not registered your product you can register online now.
Launch Suitcase Fusion and import the previous database when prompted.
Solution 2: Deactivate any permanently activated fonts in the previous version of Suitcase before upgrading:
Quit any open applications including Suitcase or Suitcase Fusion.
Trash the Suitcase Fusion Vault bundle:
/Users//Library/Application Support/Extensis/Suitcase/Suitcase Font Database.suitcasevault
Launch the previous version of Suitcase and select View > Show Open Fonts. Select all open fonts by pressing Command + A, and select File > Deactivate Fonts.
Quit the previous version of Suitcase, launch Suitcase Fusion, and choose to import your previous database.

Re: Distiller will not run while Extensis Fusion is active
I did that whole bit of newly importing fonts into Suitcase Fusion, when I had nothing but trouble with the original importing of fonts. But that didn't prevent me from having the problem of Distiller crashing when I try to launch it. What's more, we can't launch Distiller 6 OR 7... same problem. We tried some removal of preferences, didn't work. We're able to launch Distiller if we quit Suitcase Fusion, but holycow, that means each and every time we finish a document, to proof, and/or final, we have to quit every application that uses fonts (including Acrobat), then quit Suitcase Fusion (which we have to Force Quit 19 times out of 20), then launch Distiller, create a PDF, quit that and relaunch Suitcase Fusion, then all the other apps (including Acrobat to check the PDF), and so on. Unbelievable. I don't know about you, but we usually have quite a few jobs running through quite a few revisions and client review of proof-caliber PDFs and then high-resolution PDFs due on deadline. Ridiculous. We haven't been able to talk to either company about this in any meaningful way.

Re: Distiller will not run while Extensis Fusion is active
Strange. My 6 distiller still works (which is what I'm doing atm) I had so many problems installing Fusion, my computer out of 8 is the only one that is running it. On all the others in my group I've downgraded back to the old Suitcase. Something screwy is going here. So I guess if you have an option to downgrade I'd take it. Otherwise I'd be seriously po'd. I hope the two companies talk and figure out who is stepping on who's toes and fix it, since sticking with the old font managment software is a temporary fix.
I'll give a yell, if I figure anything out in the mean time.
Thanks!

Re: Distiller will not run while Extensis Fusion is active
Thanks... would love that yell if you learn anything.
As for the SFusion install, when I called they were quite snippy but did lead to a workaround of basically not doing the upgrade/import, but rather installing and then bringing fonts in anew. Unfortunately, there were a number of steps in between, removing various preferences and other system files, etc., and I did that live by phone, without written notes to pass along to you... but you might call and hope for some help if you want SFusion on the other seven machines (a big if, eh?).
Odd that your Distiller 6 worked and ours didn't, but not that odd, for a total cluster-you-know-what. Somewhere I saw a note about problems above a certain number of fonts, too, so perhaps one of us has more live fonts than the other, something like that.
Going back to Suitcase now strikes me as a mess... not upgrading the rest of yours sounds like a good idea, and I'm certainly wondering why I proceeded beyond the first machine!
And yes... the ol' fingerpointing game, that's where they stand now... not just Adobe-Extensis, but my favorite part of the experience was that Extensis gives us FontDoctor and then disclaims any knowledge or interest in answering any questions about how it works with SFusion. Joe

Re: Distiller will not run while Extensis Fusion is active
Suitcase Fusion 12.1 is up at Extensis... will download and try it. They don't mention this, of course... mostly Universal Binary "and some stability enhancement."
