It says that it processes the file and that it finalizes, but the file ends up nowhere! What am I doing wrong and how do I do it correctly?

Gunnel,
First you should upgrade to the latest version of distiller of Distiller 6.0.x.
Second you should fix permissions using the Disk Utility. Finally, you can
safely use ID to export to PDF it will preserve more features in your pdf if you
use advanced featues like transparency.

Perhaps your file name is too long, remove a few characters and try it again.

If there is a slash in your file name, it will disappear.
