    Default Distorting images

I would like to distort an image so that it can take on irregular shapes, such as baseball caps and pens. I found out how to do this with text, but not with images.

    Thanks,

    Ray

Fireworks doesn't have that capability (yet. We can always hope :-))

    Hi,

Could you elaborate a little further on what you mean? I don't quite understand what you're driving at.

Sure, I'd like to take a logo, for example the NFL shield, and place it on a baseball cap so it looks realistic. Currently, I can drag the corners and shift it in a rhombus-like fashion, but I can't distort the image in an irregular way, such as taking the middle of the image and moving it up or down in relation to the edges.

I can do this with text, by drawing a path and then attaching the text to the path, but not with images.

    Thanks,

    Ray

Too bad! Thanks, Linda. Do you know of a program that does do that?

    Thanks,

I don't quite understand what do you mean by "images". Anyway: if you're
talking about vector images, Freehand has excellent tools like envelopes and
blends (wish they will be available in FW some day...) If you're talking
about bitmap images like photos - there are excellent plugins like KPT Goo,
or ones from Stoik Software, or many others. Things like that also exist in
many purely bitmap-oriented shareware image editors, like PSP (Windows
    only).

So, if you're talking about vectors, consider Freehand. Freehand is
excellent program anyway, it works well for print stuff, and you may be
having it as a part of some MM Studio package already :-))) If you're
talking about bitmaps, consider something else :-)

Oh, and last but not least - FW has some freeform deformation tools for
vectors. They are not as powerful as tools included into Freehand, but may
probably do the job. Give then a try.
