DMX & Layer Alignment - Macromedia Dreamweaver

I've got code working well in DW4, and just upgraded to DMX (as an aside, the Template/Image Map problem is solved in DMX) The pages I'm working on are based around a monolithic jpg, then I manually positioned a layer with a form inside. Everything works like a champ in DW4, but the same pages displayed in DMX have a problen with those layers and their alignment on a jpeg or gif. I can line them up but when I hit F12, the layers don't align with where I had laid them out. Help, please? Ross...

When you say are moving, in which direction/ horizontally or vertically
or both?.

If its vertically and you have text in the layers it could well be that
the text is growing in size when viewed in a browser, which will give
the effect of the layers moving down the page. However you shouldnt
experience any movement across the page if you are using absolutely
positioned layers (divs)

Is there a url link to the page so someone can look and see what it is
you are doing?

Try http://www.jewishtreasures.com/613.htm. The order button at the bottom is sorta centered. In DW4 itis exactly where I position it and where it shows.

In DMX, though, the order button shows up high, up above the listed price. The layer consists of half a dozen hidden fields in a form and a text field for order quantity and a submit button, all on a jpg.

It's a minor but really annoying problem.

I have DW4 and DMX running side-by-side, and their respective F12's look fine, as does the DW4 version. Just the DMX cut looks bad.

Putting a layer into a table cell is a great way to inadvertanly introduce
strange behavior into your page (don't look at it in NN4x or on the Mac).

<td width=664 bgcolor=#FFFFFF> <!-- #BeginEditable "item" -->
<DL>
<DT>
<CENTER>
<img src="613.jpg" width="672" height="1248">
<div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute;
width:376px; height:52px; z-index:1; left: 398px; top: 1359px">

I won't say anything about the use of deprecated HTML markup, however.

In addition, this markup -

<HTML><!-- #BeginTemplate "/Templates/JT3.dwt" -->
<title>Jewish Treasures</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="Templates/crystalstar.css">

guarantees that all your child pages will have the same title. Is that how
you wanted it?

Also, this markup -

<SCRIPT SRC="Templates/language-en.js"></SCRIPT>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" SRC="Templates/nopcart.js">

indicates that you have files in the Templates folder other than the
templates themselves. This is a frank error and will cause you lots of link
management issues.

And this -

<form name="Search" action="Templates/search.esiml">

I assume is calling a file in the cart system that you are using?

All DW4.

Being fixed.

It will!

Now to figure out how to remove the layer from a table!

Many thanks!

Under your direction, of course. DW4 will not stop you from using <center>
tags, or HTML styles (<font> tags). But they are both deprecated.

The owner of the site has characteristics similar to the Lawyer that defends
him/herself, then. But, c'est la vie.

Eggsellent.

Cut everything from <div id=... to and through </div> (inclusive) and paste
it back on the page immediately above </body>.

You're welcome!
