DMX cant access localhost !!!!
I'm trying DMX2004 trial to see what its database functions are like but am
completely stuck.
I've installed apache (v2), PHP (v5.03) & MySQL (4.1.10) using XAMPP package
- version 1.4.12 to install all three & set everything up. Accessing
localhost brings up XAMPP main page & allows access to phpinfo() to create &
modify MySQL tables. this shows apache/php/mysql are working fine.
My problem is that using dreamweaver to set up a testing site fails..
In the site definition section, i input http://localhost/baz/ as my sites root
folder but when i click on the test URL button i get the error message
"Dreamweaver cannot use the prefix you used to display live date..... &
finishes with HTTP error 12029"
When i input the address "http://localhost/baz/test.php" into internet
explorer it allows access to the files & displays phpinfo, whish is all that is
in test.php.
Any ideas?... this has been driving me mad for weeks now :|

Re: DMX cant access localhost !!!!
Dreamweaver MX 2004 doesn't support PHP 5. It was released before PHP5.
But you'll find most hosts don't yet either.

Re: DMX cant access localhost !!!!
Hi
I am also using a trial version that came with this huge thick book that is so
vaguely written no DETAILED information is available! and only have 7 days
left! My website has been complete for weeks now but having similar problems as
you in "editing the sites". I do believe their tutorials and knowledge based
info could be approached better.. It could start out with a sample of a set up
of the "Edit Site" forms with all the nitty gritty details so we can figure out
exactly what the vague instructions are trying to say to us newbies. If anyone
can help me I would love it...am using Dreamweaver 6.0 versionMXb1722, Windows
XP with SP2 loaded... I think my pathways are getting confused. My computer has
about 3 user accounts on it and a tangle of "Documents and settings"....and
all their *&^%$# backups! I am trying to use what I call "Paint's Documents
and Settings" and the program keeps going to "Documents and Settings" and for
some reason I keeep getting this warning that the files are NOT inside the
site! And half my files are in different locations! Due to Windows
"safeguards"I cannot change the name of any of those "Documents and Settings".
HOW do I get the Dreamweaver files INSIDE the site??? I am totally confused!
Using Dreamweaver is a dream but doing the "paperwork" is a nightmare!
