    Not as well rated here:

3.76 of 5 vs. 4.33 of 5 for the Tamron plus the Tamron include a hood.

I had both the Tamron 19-35 and the Sigma 17-35, each for about 3 days,
before settling on the Sigma 15-30.

The Tamron I bought, because I wasn't sure how important wide-angle
would be to me, and it was only US$200. It wasn't quite wide enough,
and it wasn't very sharp. I returned it and went to buy the Sigma
15-30, which I heard good things about. The salesman suggested I take a
look at the Sigma 17-35, and I found it quieter and lighter than the
15-30, and it was $110 less, so I figured I'd be happier with it,
despite the 2mm narrower focal length. I took it home, and found that
it didn't focus consistently, and I looked in dpreview.com, and found
that most people who tried this lens had problems with it, and
eventually switched to the 15-30, if they could. I returned it and got
the 15-30, and lived happily ever after.

Now that I think of it, it was the 19-35 Tokina I briefly had, not the

I appreciate the recommendation (along with other recommendations that have
been made in this thread). Unfortunately, my budget is so constrained that,
at least for the time being, I'm going to have to get by with one of the
cheaper lenses, probably the Tamron. For those occassions when maximum
sharpness and quality is a concern, I have my original Canon 28-135mm lens.
However, I'll need to go wide from time to time, and I"ll just have to
    manage with a 19mm lens.

    that,

Choose Fedex 10 day ground; arrives as fast as their 5-7 day option.
Usually gets to me in 5 business days. Cost me $20 more for shipping.

B&H's cost after rebate and shipping is $19 more.
