document doesn't always save

I am using winXP, ID cs version 3.0.1. I have a gig of memory. There have been several instances where I have saved a .indd , then proceeded to export to PDF/x3 an changes that were made before the save/ export are missing. This has happened several times to myself and my boss. Has anybody else experienced this? I searched the forum, if there is already a thread on this topic please direct me to it. Thank you.

Are you working off a server?

The most recent update (this week's) speaks of fixing a problem that sounds like yours, except that it mentions it only in the context of Mac users running off Windows servers in a particular configuration.

There have been one or two other people mention this kind of problem, but I don't think anything conclusive has come from the discussions. It does seem more likely to happen when working off servers.

I work off the server just fine. I don't export from ID to PDF. I always distill a PS, but I'm certain that wouldn't have any effect. I wonder if it has something to do with a certain folder on the server with wrong permissions or security settings. Is it always files in the same folder?

Dave & Bryce - Thanks for your responses. Actually, in all cases we are saving to the PC's local C drive. Nothing being done across a server.

Any more thoughts anyone?
