    Default Domain Problem

    Hi,

Our company has got a parent domain called "corp.lk", in
    it we got child domains
    as "stockbrokers.corp.lk", "tea.corp.lk", "general.corp.lk"
, etc. Now I want to know, whether a Child domain can have
their own child domains? I mean, take for example the
child domain called "stockbrokers.corp.lk", can it have
    it's child domain called "marketing.stockbrokers.corp.lk"
    and "accounts.stockbrokers.corp.lk". Basically what I
would like to get know is whether a child domains , could
    have it's own child domains?

    awaiting your response in anticipation.

    thanx in advance,

    Hifni

Default Yes, child domains can contain their own child domains.

    Hifni:

Yes, child domains can contain their own child domain. Also, you can have
different namespaces for the domains in your forest. Example, you could have
myco.com and myinc.com in the same forest. They would each be a domain tree
of their own within the forest and can have children under them.

Now, as far as creating extra domains, unless you absolutely need to, it's
strongly advised to segment your administration by using OUs. Unless there
is no way possible for you to use OUs for the purpose you need, then use
domains. Creating extra domains causes more overhead and money - you'll need
at least 2 DCs and GCs for each domain for redundancy.

    Martin

Default Correction to my first reply

    Correction:

You don't actually need 2 GCs for a new domain. You can use GCs from other
    domains in the forest.
