Re: Don't know how to open .msi file from trial
I'm having the same problem, but actually while using IE browser to download
said (free trial of Contribute 3.1 - I can view/read the pdf's, but
double-clicking on the msi does nothing, nor can I even extract the .msi from
the zip file. I've downloaded it a dozen times over the past week. Support
forums have a tip advising to slow down one's modem. I'm using a fast cable
connection. I try running other downloads simltaneously, but apparently it
doesn't slow the modem down. I don't understand why I can download msi's from
other sites successfully except macromedia contribute 3.1 free trial - is it
because the msi might be larger in size than some others and the larger the
size, the greater the chance of corruption?
I don't even know how to slow down my modem - am using Windows XP w/cable
modem, so going into control panel/settings/modem isn't it. Any mirror sites to
d/l the free trial? This is getting ridiculous. Would it really matter using
Netscape/Firefox/IE? Specific setting in IE browser that helps throttle the
d/l? Believe I tried it with / without XP firewall on / off. Am not using any
d/l accelerator.

Re: Don't know how to open .msi file from trial
The download is large. If you do not have enough space available for it in
your temporary internet folder when you do the download, the file is being
truncated to fit. Please clear out your temporary internet folder and
increase its size (temporarily) - then try the download again.

Re: Don't know how to open .msi file from trial
gweibert,
I had a similar problem, except with one of the pdf's. Because of my cable
connection, I was attempting to d/l multiple files at the same time. It worked
when I d/l one at a time and nothing else.
My C: drive is 40 Gig... so TIF (set at 1.2GB) space was not the problem.
HTH.
