Be aware that Illustrator is very touchy about the purity of a font in order to use it. Even if other programs might overlook idiosynchrsis, Illustrator requires strict adherense to font design in order to use it. Install fonts in regular way as John indicates, but if you don't see it listed or Illustrator balks, then it's probably not up to Illustrator requirements. This is often the case with many fonts not created by the larger font houses.
