Downloaded Acrobat 6 into XP w/Office Pro - HELP
I downloaded Adobe 6.0 to the tune of $299. Now my Dell laptop running XP and MS Office Pro is at a crawl. I was given a serious conflict error message concerning Acrobat and Outlook. I rebooted several times to no avail. I tried to uninstall, and after 20 minutes, got an error message and was unable to continue. I tried a repair (thru the Adobe wizard) and was again, after 20 minutes, hit with an error. The system then spent 10 minutes trying to get back to where it was. What am I left with? A dog-slow computer that is basically useless, an Adobe program that no longer loads or works and is unable to be uninstalled or repaired, a $299 CC bill and no freakin' idea what to do except take it to the shop for a costly repair. Any ideas? I sent a bug report to Adobe, only to find out that they don't reply to those (?). I can't even find a link to send an email without subscribing and paying more to have them tell me what? My guess is that this is beyond telephone support; I'm not a computer wizard; I know how to run programs that work as they should. Was it too much to expect? Sorry, but I'm pissed at the moment.

Re: Downloaded Acrobat 6 into XP w/Office Pro - HELP
Did you turn off applications and antivirus software during the installatin? How many applications do you have open? Have you tried turning off Outlook? Do you use WORD as your Outlook editor?
These questions may not resolve your problem, but they may provide a foot in the door. Bill

Re: Downloaded Acrobat 6 into XP w/Office Pro - HELP
Bill. I don't think it asked me to log out of McAfee, so I'm sure it was running. If so, and I go back and try to reload it with everything off, do you think that will help?
I also don't know if Word is my email editor, but it is if that is the default.
I'll keep trying, but with error messages at this point stopping me, I don't have much hope that I can do this myself. Thanks for your input. Wade
