Downloading files from the server to the client browser - Macromedia Dreamweaver

I want to download files, images, Word .docs, .pdfs, from the server to the browser. The user clicks on a link, gets the usual "File Download" dialogue, chooses Save from Save or Open and the file downloads to the browsers machine. We do it everyday. What is the code to do this? (I'm designing in ASP and VBScript). Thanking you in anticipation....

Zip the files. Link to them.
